San Diego Mesa had five scorers in the top 35 at the California Community College Athletic Association Southern Regional championship meet to place second overall with 82 points at Kern County Soccer Park in Bakersfield. Mohussin Abakar covered the 5-kilometer layout in 18:18.50 to finish fourth, Kyana Cook took 10th in 18:46.92, Presley Bennettt placed 21st in 19:21.97, with Madison Decker and Sophie Moser-Smith securing 31st and 32nd overall in 19:39.52 and 19:40.25 for the Olympians. Sidney Garcia was 56th in 20:48.70 for San Diego Mesa, which advanced to the Nov. 19 state final at Woodward Park in Fresno.
